When we first launched Prince of Travel Membership back in 2020, we had a simple goal: create a space where Canadian travel enthusiasts could get deeper insights into the Miles & Points game.

What began as a modest three-tiered patronage model has evolved into something far more powerful, and I couldn’t be more excited to share the details of our completely revamped membership program.

To be transparent, our all-new Membership experience officially launched back in November of 2024 and you might remember a sweet Black Friday deal floating around at the time .

As someone who’s been with Prince of Travel through this entire journey, watching it transform from a solo blog into Canada’s premier travel rewards resource, this November relaunch represents more than just a platform change–it’s the culmination of everything we’ve learned about what truly helps Canadians maximize their travel experiences.

Membership Reimagined From The Ground Up

The decision to overhaul our membership program didn’t come lightly. Continuously, our team pored over member feedback, analyzed engagement patterns, and had countless conversations with members at our Miles & Pints events across the country.

What became abundantly clear was that while our community valued the content we provided, what they truly craved was a more comprehensive ecosystem—one that combined actionable information, powerful tools, and most importantly, a vibrant community of like-minded travelers.

The multi-tiered approach (Gold, Platinum, and Royal Platinum) that served us well in the early days had begun creating unnecessary complexity.

In 2023, we moved towards a single-tier Prince of Travel Platinum Membership, but remained on Discord. However, having a community primarily built on a chat-platform had other issues: it’s hard to search for information, and hard to remember the important bits shared.

Perhaps the most significant change in our revamped membership is the transition from Discord to Circle as our community platform.

This decision was driven by our desire to create not just a chat space, but a true community of practice where valuable insights are easily discovered and discussions have lasting impact.

The structured spaces within Circle—with the same topics of “Flights”, “Credit Cards” and “Travel Wins”—create natural knowledge repositories that grow more valuable over time.

Rather than watching crucial information scroll off-screen in a fast-moving chat, members can now easily bookmark and reference discussions months later when planning their own trips.

I’ve been particularly excited watching members use the platform to document their booking processes and create informal case studies. Just last month, we had a member walk through their entire experience booking round-trip business class flights for two on Qatar Airways Qsuites business class visiting the Maldives in First Class.

Okay, So There’s a Discussion Forum – What Else?

Other than the member-led community, you can look forward to weekly live calls with the Prince of Travel community management team.

Learning Sessions: All Completely Recorded

Our tried-and-true Learning Sessions will continue under our new Membership model. What began as occasional webinars has transformed into a twice-monthly strategy guide designed to progressively build members’ travel rewards expertise.

Recent topics include:

  • Aeroplan 101: Earning and Redeeming
  • Fixed-Value Points Programs
  • Credit Card Insurance Overview
  • Exploring Partner Redemptions on Flying Blue

Keep in mind our growing library of session replays serves as an on-demand resource when specific booking challenges arise – as a member, you receive access to the entire catalog.

Office Hours: An Unfiltered Q&A

Our long-standing tradition of connecting directly with members continues through Office Hours—an open, interactive session held once a month where you can bring your questions, ideas, and booking challenges in real time.

Unlike structured Learning Sessions, Office Hours are informal and Q&A-focused. Whether you’re troubleshooting a complex redemption, curious about a credit card perk, or want a second opinion on your travel strategy, this is the space to ask.

It’s also a great opportunity to learn from fellow members’ questions and experiences, with direct insight from the Prince of Travel team.

These sessions are not recorded in order for us to provide the most valuable advice – after all, some things just aren’t meant to be written in stone .

Join us at the next Office Hours to get clarity, share wins, and deepen your confidence in using points for travel.

Panel Talks

A brand new live session since our launch in November, Panel Talks is a monthly live event series where members of the Prince of Travel team go live to chat about all things travel, Miles & Points, and anything related (or even slightly related!) to the world we love.

Expect a casual, engaging vibe—this isn’t a structured webinar, but more like grabbing a drink and talking shop with your fellow travel enthusiasts.

I co-host alongside the always-awesome Amy Tung, and each month we’ll bring in different voices from the team. So far, we’ve had Chris, Rashaad, and T.J. Expect a fun, constantly rotating cast of Prince of Travel cast members.

This is the place to bring your questions, comments, and hot takes.

Off the Cuff

Think of Off the Cuff as a trip report provided in a live, digital, group call format. We go over our own past trips and dive into all the nitty-gritty details like what flights we booked, how much they cost, and even how far in advance we secured these seats.

This is the place to dive deep into trip planning from exactly which hotels we booked to the sim card solutions available to how to best match your trip availability with award availability. Ask questions, join live, and maybe even host one of your own someday!

Okay, So There’s a Discussion Forum and Live Calls – What Else?

You can also expect exclusive content in the Prince of Travel Platinum Membership space: from articles on the best strategies to finding award space to trip reports to the remote Canadian Arctic.

Just recently, I published a post featuring one of the best sweet spots ever – here’s a snippet:

There’s also a couple less formal flight and hotel reviews floating around:

While digital tools and resources form the backbone of our membership offering, there’s simply no substitute for face-to-face connection among travel enthusiasts.

Our Miles & Pints gatherings have consistently been among our most beloved membership benefits, and we’re thrilled to announce our first in-person event since the membership relaunch:

️ Event Details

  • Location: Taco Taco – 319 Augusta Ave, Toronto (Kensington Market)
  • Date: Saturday, April 5, 2025
  • ⏰ Time: 2:00–5:00 PM
  • Cost: $50 CAD per person (includes 1 drink ticket + snacks)

Note this event is open to everyone! However, tickets for members are lower at $40 each.

What makes these gatherings so special is the organic knowledge exchange that happens when you bring together people united by their passion for maximizing travel value.

Conversations flow naturally between recent redemption wins, current sweet spots, and practical booking strategies.

You can also expect a short Miles & Points exercise run by the Prince of Travel team.

I’ve personally witnessed countless “light bulb moments” at these events—instances where a casual comment from one member suddenly unlocks a new realm of possibilities for another. It’s these connections that transform individual knowledge into community wisdom.

There will be a draw for door prizes (such as amenity kits, MLL passes, AC status passes, Prince Collection vouchers, and more); note, members will receive more entries than the general public.

Measuring Success: The Stories That Matter Most

While we track various metrics to evaluate our membership program, nothing matters more than the travel experiences we help create. Some recent member victories that particularly stand out:

  • A member who redeemed Marriott points at the JW Marriott Masai Mara and ran into the family member of a member of our team
  • A member who booked an EVA business class award on Aeroplan from Chicago to Taipei after seeing a post that award space was available
  • A member who booked round-trip business class flights to Thailand using Aeroplan one-way and Avios on the other (EVA Airways and Qatar Airways, respectively) – as their first business class redemption!
  • A member who booked a consulting call and was able to unlock Qatar Airways First Class along with the life-changing Al Safwa First Class Lounge

These stories represent the real impact of our membership—not just points saved or deals found, but meaningful travel experiences that might not have happened otherwise.

Your Contributions – Your Rewards

A new element to our Membership program is Gamification – the idea that the more you contribute, the more points you gain, and the more rewards you unlock.

Think of rewards points as XP and the more you level up, the more you get out of this. Rewards include:

  • A 15-minute call with a Prince of Travel team member
  • A quarterly fireside chat with special guests
  • Access to an exclusive group chat with the Prince of Travel community management team

No screenshots outside of the leaderboard because… what happens in the group chat stays in the group chat.

Looking Ahead: Our Vision for the Future of Membership

As we continue refining our membership offering, several exciting enhancements are on the horizon:

  • Expanded Regional Coverage: Dedicated resources for members in different Canadian regions, recognizing the unique challenges and opportunities in various markets
  • Credit Card Breakdowns: Dedicated credit card breakdowns for cards on both sides of the border, sharing specific details and best use cases as well who is best suited for which card
  • Expert Contributor Series: Bringing in specialized knowledge from adjacent fields like luxury travel, family travel, and business travel optimization

Our commitment is to ensure the membership continues evolving alongside the rapidly changing travel rewards landscape, always providing the most current and valuable resources possible.
