For lunch break I went to this location after more then 15 years. Sokol is ultimat tourist trap. It has history (inn at this location since 1870 by Jakob Mehle). In 90’s here was club Penaty, before existing ovner took control of and change it back to inn in 1998. It has terrific central area (50m to cathedral and 50m to Robba’s fontaine/Town hall). Interior is in rustical style and waiters are in conventional slovenian dressed. On menu they have some conventional local food like pršut (prosciutto), beef soup, klobasa (sausage), štruklji … But there are some products from global cusine like pasta bologniese, wiener scnitzel, calamari.

I was alone in one of spaces in corner. Waiters passed by me for 10 minutes till I stopped one. I purchased Venison goulash in bread cup (18EUR) and orange juice (4EUR). Meal was quick served in bread cup, taste and great portion. 20 years ago I would take foreign friends here, but it got too touristy. However still if you do not have excessive time and don’t mind crowds and bit high cost you can stop here.
