Osmica (Eight) is tradition of offering wine without taxes at winery for a duration of 8 days (called after that). Place would be marky with ivy branch (fraska). It goes back to Charlemagne time over Austrio-hungarian guideline (decree 1784). Today this tradition is manly kept in western Slovenain areas (Primorska, Istra and Kras) and border locations in Italy where farmers selll what they produce (next to red wine, schnaps, home made bread, some easy meals, cold cuts, sausage, sweets). Now they organize it in spring and autumn for 10 days.

We were eight people, we sat there for couple of hours eating from cold cut starters to some basic meals like jota and polenta, dessert (štruklji). White and red wines were on table too. Intriguing is regional soda, Pašareta. When we were leaving we got homemade schanps for digestive. Completely was 110EUR. Inexpensive and taasty alternative if you remain in this location sometimes of Osmica.
