Old Hotel In Sosua Photographs– Dominican Republic
An Old Abandoned Resort Hotel Resting In Sosua A take a look at individual photographs taken throughout our travel experiences around the globe. This time we look back at an …
Old Hotel In Sosua
located in the Caribbean Island of the Dominican Republic. This former little resort was named; The Los Almendros Hotel
It was once located in the small town of … Sosua. This is where my spouse and I stayed while on our getaway way back in 1989.
Before closing its doors, I see the name had actually changed to the; TropiClub. It had apparently become a; 2 star extensive resort hotel, at that time. Below, are a couple of before and after photos, of the old hotel in Sosua. We definitely enjoyed our stay at this small hotel, back in the early 1980’s.
Tourist was just getting underway in the Dominican Republic, at this time.

The TropiClub– Abandoned Hotel Photos After The TropiClub Hotel Sosua Having actually returned back to the Dominican Republic on a household getaway a couple of years back, I was dissatisfied to see this quaint old hotel in Sosua, shut down. Clearly due to the now very popular traveler region of Punta Cana. With much larger and extravagant all inclusive beach resorts in Punta Cana, Sosua is no longer a preferred beach holiday option for visitors. We had a wonderful time throughout our stay and getaway invested at this hotel, years earlier. The staff were extremely friendly
, with restricted usage of the English language, at the time. They were constantly very grateful for having travelers get here, to help support them and the local economy at that time.
The Front Entrance to the TropiClub Hotel It was a wonderful location to vacation and remain back then, and was sorry to see it had closed down.
Although certainly not as popular as Puerto Plata and what Punta Cana has become, it was still a good quiet beach vacation destination, back in the 1980’s.
Below, I’ve included the main tourism website link for your convenience. A fantastic resource when planning a vacation to the gorgeous … Island of the Dominican Republic.
Dominican Republic Tourist
< img src= "http://gr8traveltips.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/CTV-W5.png" alt="CTV W5 "width= "400"height ="225"/ > I enjoyed an episode of W5 here in Canada a few seasons earlier. It’s a similar; investigative reporting television program, to that of; 60 Minutes in the United States. It laid out a very troubling examination into the child sex industry in Sosua.
It appears this location in the Dominican Republic, has actually become the number one destination for; child sex transgressors on the planet. I do hope the city government can do something about this, in the very future. We took a trip to this part of the Dominican Republic several years back, before Punta Cana was developed, and it was lovely.
A genuine shame to see it become what it is today. As an outcome, I would not advise a getaway to Sosua till such time, this dreadful issue, is addressed and cleaned up.
There are lots of other lovely destinations on the island, to take pleasure in a terrific holiday.
Be sure to take a look at the Google Map box at the bottom of this post for the Dominican Republic’s exact location.
