Santiago de Compostela is completion of all Camino routes. It’s an excellent city to invest a couple of days after completing the walk. I always feel inspired and uplifted showing up in Santiago and seeing numerous other pilgrims from all over the world gathered at Obradoiro Square in front of the cathedral. For me it’s the happiest city worldwide and obviously I always want to invest some time to enjoy it.

Santiago de Compostela has plenty of wonderful locations to stay for different budgets from albergues to high-end hotels. In this post, I advise some of our favorite lodging locations in the city.

  1. pilgrims to remain in Santiago. The historic center is the best area to stay in the
  2. city for pilgrims since: You’re a couple of minutes stroll from the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. You’re close to the Pilgrims Reception Office where you’ll address least as soon as to the your Compostela certificate. The best tapas bars and restaurants( in our opinion)are on the pedestrian streets near the cathedra. You can go out during the night and walk back to your hotel. My preferred tapas bars are on Rua do Franco.

Alameda Park is a good choice if you want to be somewhere quiet but still close sufficient to the center. I stayed there as soon as during my very first check out to Santiago de Compostela as a tourist. I took pleasure in the lovely scenery and the harmony of the area. There are many bars and dining establishments close by. From Alameda Park, you get great views of the Cathedral and Old Town.

A map of the historic center of Santiago with our 5 favorite places to remain Our leading 5 places to remain in Santiago de Compostela Here are the best hotels to stay in Santiago de Compostela (in our viewpoint)for pilgrims after completing the Camino. The recommended hotels have the best place in the

city. All 3 places have a central location in the heart of the Old Town of Santiago de Compostela (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), and a brief walk to the Cathedral and the Pilgrim’s Reception Workplace. We know after finishing among the Camino de Santiago routes you don’t feel like strolling a lot to receive from your hotel to the locations of interest. Besides their place one more great thing these 3 places share is tranquility. Due to their location far from hectic bars and restaurants, it’s quiet there in the evening. You don’t hear street sounds and music in your space. Parador de Santiago and Hospedaria Seminario Mayor are specifically quiet during the night. • of spaces; brand-new and more expensive spaces that can be booked online and cheaper and more modest rooms for pilgrims that can be booked by means of e-mail. The pilgrims ‘spaces are old-fashioned and rather basic. The basic rooms are more modern and comfortable. Whichever room you pick the historical building and the location of the hotel are fantastic. It’s definitely among the very best locations to stay in Santiago de Compostela. For the rate you pay you couldn’t discover a better location to remain in Santiago de Compostela. I ‘d highly advise booking your room at Hospedería San Martín Pinario ahead of time. We handled to get a pilgrims’room just for the third time. Our first 2 shots were not successful since the location was always complete. Facilities Free wi-fi– yes Personal bathroom– yes Air-conditioned spaces– no Breakfast– yes, 7 euros per person

The rate is a bit greater than a typical albergue however the place is fantastic and it’s more comfortable than the average

I treated myself and stayed at Parador de Santiago as soon as after completing the Camino Frances. I walked the French Camino alone while Campbell was treking in Canada. It was my first solo Camino and after walking alone for 1 month I believed I should have a treat. Hostal Reis Catolicos was a best place. I took pleasure in a lot staying here and from my experience, it’s worth the cash. The place could not be much better right at the Obradoiro Square ignoring the Cathedral and 150 m from the Pilgrim’s Workplace. It provides an easy access to the historical center.

Hostal Reis Catolicos or Parador de Santiago de Compostela plays an important function in the history of Santiago de Compostela. It’s considered among the earliest continuously operating hotels worldwide. The building of the hotel/hospital for pilgrims started in 1501 and finished 10 years later on. Since then the Pardor has actually been inviting pilgrims in Santiago de Compostela. The medical facility part was moved to a different location in 1954.

Pensión-Residencia Fonseca Range to the Cathedral– 100 m Average rating (booking.com)-9.4 out of 10 Price variety– mid-range Likes– the place and the personal attention Dislikes– shared bathroom, but it’s shared only between 2 or 3 rooms Residencia Fonseca is a great worth for cash for a single traveler, a double space exercises rather costly. I remained there for a couple of nights after the Camino Frances (remaining at Reis Catolicos for 3 days was too costly). The area is fantastic, best beside the Cathedral. The location is cozy and clean and the hostess is really valuable. It was so great to stay in a small place that seemed like home after staying mostly in big local albergues for one month.

The only thing that some people may not like is the sound. I remained at Residencia Fonseca over the weekend and there was a lot of noise coming from the bars downstairs. It wasn’t a huge issue for me I just headed out and enjoyed the music and ambiance but if you wish to rest it may be frustrating. Having earplugs will help.

  • 5. Blanco Albergue Range to the Cathedral– 500 m Average score– 8.7 out of 10 Price range– spending plan Likes– the location, clos to the cathedral Dislikes– it is a bit more expensive than an average albergue Blanco Albergue is another great place to remain in the historical center of Santiago de Compostela. I can’t keep in mind after which Camino de Santiago we stayed here (most likely after the Portuguese Camino) but I certainly remember it since of its unique style and brilliant colors. The albergue is comfy and tidy, and it has excellent facilities. The beds are more like cubicles with drapes for extra personal privacy. Despite being an albergue it was peaceful and seemed like a good location to rest.
