This summer, prepare to be dazzled! The Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines(KCC )and the Jinju Local government illuminated another spectacular sea of lanterns and tradition with”Lights of Korea: Jinju Silk Lanterns “which will run from May 24, 2025 until July 31, 2025 at the KCC exhibit hall. This touring exhibition is being performed as part of the”2025

Touring K-Arts Program”by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism( MCST)and the Korea Structure for International Cultural Exchange. More than just lanterns, these masterpieces are radiant testimonies to Korea’s artistry and

heritage. Born from the storied silk-making traditions of Jinju, situated in Gyeongsangnam-do Province, a city famous for its centuries-old sericulture(silk farming), the Jinju Silk Lanterns blend fragile craftsmanship with ageless charm. Each lantern is made of great Korean silk, intricately shaped and illuminated from within, producing a wonderful fusion of light, color, and culture. What started as humble festival lanterns in Jinju has progressed into a renowned art kind that continues to mesmerize audiences

worldwide. Now, for the first time, this special piece of Korean tradition is making its solo launching in the Philippines, using visitors an uncommon possibility to step into a world where art satisfies light, and custom satisfies imagination. Visitors can also attempt a Do-It-Yourself(DO IT YOURSELF)Lantern Making Package and take it home as a memento after going to the exhibit. Additionally, visitors should watch out for”Hanbok Fridays”-an event where visitors can try wearing Korea’s traditional clothes while wandering around the display, and “Assisted Tours “to completely immerse themselves in the history and custom that lines up with the exhibit. Beyond their spectacular look, the Jinju Silk Lanterns tell a story: a story of strength, imagination, and the enduring spirit of Korean culture. KCC welcomes everyone to experience this extraordinary exhibition, where every lantern becomes

a window into Korea’s creative soul and a glowing sign of cultural connection between Korea and the Philippines. Following its Manila run,”The Light of Korea: Jinju Silk Lanterns”, will continue its journey throughout Southeast Asia, including drop in Indonesia and Vietnam– shining its light on new audiences and commemorating the growing bonds of friendship and creativity across the area.
