In celebration of its 100th year of service, Delta Air Lines is releasing a historically inspired safety video in April. The video, ‘A Hundred Years of Safety,’ traces Delta’s journey from the 1920s to the present, showcasing the evolution of air travel over the decades.

Delta Air Lines, one of the world’s oldest airlines, is celebrating a centenary of flight operations this year. To mark the milestone, the airline will unveil a new onboard safety video this April, creatively integrating key moments from its rich history with the necessary safety instructions for passengers.

The video, aptly titled ‘A Hundred Years of Safety,’ features a visual journey through the decades of air travel, beginning in the 1920s. The video includes 11 Delta logos and 10 employee uniforms from different eras, illustrating the transformation of air travel habits, fashion, and culture. A special guest appearance by ‘Deltalina,’ the face of Delta’s 2008 safety video, is also included, much to the delight of Delta’s loyal customers.

The video’s development took several months, with Delta working closely with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to ensure all content meets the necessary safety requirements. The video covers essential safety information, including the location of emergency exits, the usage of oxygen masks, and the appropriate response in a sudden evacuation.

Delta’s commitment to safety extends beyond the safety video. Flight attendants, often the first line of defense in emergencies, undergo a rigorous seven-week training program at Delta’s Atlanta headquarters. This intensive training covers a range of potential onboard scenarios, including turbulence, unruly passengers, medical emergencies, and evacuations. The training includes technical knowledge of nine aircraft types and 16 door and window variations.

After training, flight attendants earn their wings at a special graduation ceremony, proudly wearing their new Delta uniforms. These uniforms have evolved significantly over the last 100 years and are designed with employee feedback and safety considerations.
