Some moments in life are perfectly managed, not by careful preparation, but by possibility, mood, and a bit of magic. That’s precisely how I ended up doing a flying dress photoshoot on my 20th blog anniversary on June 5, 2025 in Phuket, Thailand.
Twenty Years of Travel Blogging
Yes, it’s been twenty years. 2 whole years since I began blogging. Often frequently, sometimes sporadically, and often disappearing entirely however always returning. The blog site has actually been a faithful buddy, an outlet, a witness to my progressing life and travels.
This wasn’t supposed to be a flying dress photo shoot celebration. It was simply implied to be a short journey with my sis Alka. Around my birthday, she recommended a fast getaway before my passport ended. I stated yes without hesitation. Thailand, with its easy visa-free gain access to for Indians and a special place in my heart, seemed like the natural option. Though I’ve been there 11 times, usually on blogging journeys, this was my very first personal vacation in Thailand. And why travel to Phuket? Just due to the fact that I had not been in the past. It was also Alka’s very first trip to Thailand, and we could’ve picked any destination, but this one felt ideal.
The Surprise That Waited in the Hotel Lobby
On 4th June, as I was strolling back from the beach to my space at the sensational Pullman Phuket Karon Beach Resort, I saw a little photography booth setup in the lobby. It had sales brochures, sample images, and the majority of striking of all, flying dresses for lease. My curiosity overcame me, and I visited.
The professional photographer, Ramy, was warm and practical. He pointed me to a WhatsApp number and informed me it wasn’t possible to do a shoot that day, but it might be organized the next day. That next day just took place to be my 20th blogging anniversary.
I messaged the number, and a friendly woman responded. Whatever formed rapidly. We confirmed the timing. The dresses. The location. All of it sounded best, other than for something: the weather condition.
The next day it rained, like a lot. The skies persisted, and the professional photographer, Rami, was delayed. We waited and waited, wondering if the minute would escape. My sis Alka was dealing with a mild ankle discomfort too, and going to the beach was no longer a choice. However then, the clouds paved the way just enough, and Rami showed up.
A Yard, A Dress, and a Bit of Magic
We chose to do the photoshoot on the lavish yard of the Pullman resort itself, a choice born of need however one that ended up being ideal. We slipped into those streaming gowns in the convenience of our rooms. We walked from our space through the lobby to the yard holding the long tails. However then something wonderful unfolded. The dress, the movement, the colors, and the pleasure, all of it came together like an event choreographed by the universe itself.
We didn’t need the sea. We didn’t require a remarkable sundown. We had the rain-kissed lawn, the energy of the moment, and the peaceful excitement of doing something so uncommon.
And easily, on my 20th blog site anniversary, we produced something unforgettable, not in front of an audience, not with a plan, but merely by stating yes to the moment. Would I do it again? In a heartbeat. It likewise helps that the photoshoot was not breaking my bank.
But more than the photos or the dress, I’ll keep in mind the feeling, of saying yes, of twirling in the rain, and of commemorating 20 years of storytelling with open arms and flying fabric with my sis by my side.
