Goa is becoming our go to put! Last year we went when. This year, I’ve currently been twice! We generally stay in South Goa, however on my second journey this year, my sibling and I stayed at IBIS Styles Goa Vagator, which isn’t right by the beach.
When we stayed by the beach earlier, we required taxis only two times, to and from the airport, which utilized to be great.
High and Random Taxi Costs
This time, however, we required taxis regularly. There was a taxi stand right by the hotel gate. We had actually already checked out the high prices, and sadly, it holds true. There is no rhyme or reason to the fares they quote.
For example, anything and anywhere appears to start at 500. We went to a coffee shop about 7 km away, and it cost 1,000 each method! That’s in fact more expensive than Tokyo and in Tokyo, everything is organized and in advance.
I even downloaded the Goa Miles app, hoping to get a taxi that way. But I might never ever actually get one in Vagator. It might be since I was trying to book from my hotel and near practically every significant hotel, there’s an unofficial taxi stand, which appears to prevent app-based trips.
Good Taxi Drivers
Anjuna Beach, Goa While I didn’t like the prices, all the drivers I satisfied were nice and courteous. One even asked if we wished to go to a bar. I chuckled and stated, “Do we appear like the age?” He immediately replied, “Everybody goes to a bar!” Now I have actually made a note, perhaps next time!
We even talked about a little politics. One young driver stated he liked the late Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, as he cared deeply about the state.
The Taxi Policy Puzzle
I really question what kind of policy has caused such uneven taxi pricing. It would be nice if it got fixed one day. In this day and age, random rates discarded on tourists simply doesn’t feel ideal particularly in a place as stunning and inviting as Goa.
