. Each uses a different environment and makes a terrific starting point for exploring the island. I stayed in both during my journey and enjoyed them equally. Batsi is a dynamic however unwinded beach town, with adequate buzz to feel friendly without being chaotic. The beachside dining establishments are lovely to roam in the evening, and the wide sandy beach is best for swimming and sunbathing. I enjoyed how Batsi had a dynamic feel during the night however without being over the leading touristy.

Several hiking routes also begin near Batsi, so you don’t have to stay put on the beach. Regular buses connect Batsi to Gavrio port in about 15 minutes, and on to Chora in around 45 minutes. This makes Batsi one of the most hassle-free places to remain in Andros if you’re travelling without a car.

Me taking pleasure in the view from the balcony at our lodging, Cozy Nest, Batsi accommodation I stayed at a fantastic location in Batsi called the Cozy Nest. My preferred part was the outdoor area. Not just does it have a stunning terrace with views over the bay, however it also has an outdoor shower. There are bright bougainvillea all around the building.

Inside is a tidy, roomy room that sleeps 3 and a different bathroom and kitchen.

If you’re searching for someplace that’s calm, convenient and magnificently scenic, Cozy Nest is the place to remain.

Chora

The capital of Andros, Chora, feels more conventional and less touristy than Batsi. Lots of residents told me it was the more authentic option of the 2, and I could see why. With a pedestrianised primary street lined with stores and a lot of dining establishments, Chora is perfect for night strolls with an ice cream in hand.

Chora is likewise a fantastic base for hiking. Lots of routes begin here, and during my two-week stay I set out on multiple strolls. With a good option of dining establishments and quieter evenings than Batsi, it’s an excellent choice if you’re searching for a more regional feel.
