I based myself in Chora, the island’s graceful capital, for ten days, and quickly discovered that this stunning town makes a perfect base for a car-free Andros trip.

You’re rewarded with a spectacular panorama. On one side you can see Chora’s beautiful lighthouse set against the deep blue Aegean Sea. On the other you can see out throughout Chora (Andros town).
Pro Pointer: just underneath the archway bridge that results in the castle, you’ll find a fabulous swimming spot, available from steps that lead straight down to the sea. I absolutely loved swimming here.
